Killer Mermaid. Man Eater. Virus Shark. Three Blind Mice. Triassic World. Those are just some of the titles currently streaming on Prime Video that didn’t make the following list.
Last week, I was going through all the biggest streamers to find this list of scary movies for Halloween when I noticed something different on Prime Video. All the streamers had lots of weird, random horror movies on there, but Prime Video had things that just sounded hilarious. Titles and concepts that were just so over the top and silly, I couldn’t stop thinking about them. Clearly, they didn’t qualify for that other list but instead, they inspired a whole list of their own.
Below you’ll find the 10 most unhinged titles I found when looking at Prime Video’s horror selection (which you can see in full here), none of which I’ve seen, but all of which I will tell you about. I even found so many, I’ve got an extra 10 for honorable mention. But here are the cream of the crop.
This couldn’t be about a young woman wandering the woods who is killing everyone, could it? Of course it is. Watch it here.
Sometimes the best titles are the literal ones. “What should we call this?” “Well, it’s got Navy Seals, it’s got zombies…” “Perfect!” Watch it here.
Apparently, Evil Bong is a whole series of horror films, this being the fourth installment. And what an installment it must be. “A man’s escape from Evil Bong’s world of weed leads him to open a 420-friendly, topless bowling alley but his enemies have plans of their own.” Watch it here.
What happens when giant mutant spiders escape and are unleashed on an unassuming ski resort? Find out in Ice Spiders. Watch it here.
Who doesn’t love a giant snake movie, especially one starring Eric Roberts? Well, that’s Megaboa. Watch it here.
Weird horror movies love the word “mega,” and the characters in Mega Lightning, about a killer thunderstorm, are about to find that out. Watch it here.
I gotta say, of all the Jurassic Park horror titles that are on Prime Video, and there are many, Jurassic Croc just sounds the best coming off the tongue. Watch it here.
Not to be confused with Jurassic Shark or any other number of killer shark movies, Toxic Shark is about a shark that gets canceled on social media for its toxic behavior. I mean, not really, but it probably makes as much sense. Watch it here.
There are also a lot of killer mermaid titles on Prime and my question is, what did the mermaids do to deserve it? Maybe it’s our fault they live in a lake of the dead. Watch it here.
Surprisingly, this is not a Peter Pan-themed horror movie, though I kind of wish it was. It’s just about a lake guarded by spirits. Watch it here.
And here are 10 other titles that almost made the list, but I think you’ll just enjoy reading: The Mad Hatter, Sky Monster, The Ouija Exorcism, Planet Raptor, Scarecrow Country, Red Water, The Shasta Triangle, Cinderella’s Curse, House of Elm Lake, and of course, Some Guy Who Kills People.
