Kyle Katarn Is Finally Getting the Action Figure He Always Deserved

Reading time: Reading time 2 minutes

Kyle Katarn is one of the greatest inventions of Star Wars‘ long gaming history. A gung-ho smuggler without a cause turned into a flawed, but persevering Jedi since he made his debut in the iconic shooter Dark Forces 30 years ago, Kyle has found his place in Star Wars superseded by the twilighting of the Expanded Universe, and is perhaps one of the more notable elements to have not crossed over into the revised continuity in some way. But canon or not, for his 30th birthday he’s getting the action figure he’s long deserved.

Over the weekend at MCM London Comic Con, Hasbro revealed the next wave of Star Wars Black Series action figures, led by the Kyle that they had teased at New York Comic Con earlier in the month. Joined by Star Wars Rebels‘ Seventh Sister, prequel-era Jedi (and another EU fave) Quinlan Vos, and in a surprise turn, Tales of the Jedi‘s young Jedi Dooku, Kyle will come with an outfit and look inspired by his appearances in Jedi Knight and Jedi Outcast, as well as his trusty lightsaber and his even trustier Bryar pistol (an element of his legacy that did carry on over to contemporary canon, inherited by Cassian Andor).

While Kyle is definitely the highlight, considering this release will mark the first time since 2009 that Kyle has gotten an action figure (and even that was his first figure since he made his plastic debut in 1998!) in any scale, let alone Black Series’ 6″ standard, the rest of the figures are nothing to scoff at either.

Especially as they all come with a surprising amount of accessories, to boot. Like Kyle, all of them will come with “swooshing” lightsaber VFX pieces (two, in the case of Seventh Sister for her Inquisitorius saber) as well as standard blades for their weapons. Seventh Sister and Jedi Dooku even come with alternate heads, the former with a removable helmet to fit on either, the latter depicting Dooku either shaved or bearded. On top of that, Seventh Sister even comes with her little seeker probe droid to pose scuttling around her!

For a line that usually calls it a day at a single weapon most of the time (outside of lavish exclusives), it’s nice to see Black Series have new releases that feel on par with Hasbro’s other toy lines beyond the base figures. But that’s just icing on the cake next to being able to do Kyle right.

All four of the new Star Wars Black Series figures will be available to preorder from tomorrow, October 28, at 1pm ET on Hasbro Pulse, ahead of a release in spring 2026.
