This Fan-Made Lego ‘Project Hail Mary’ Rocky Build Is Amaze Amaze Amaze

Reading time 2 minutes

Fans who saw Project Hail Mary this weekend, and there were plenty of them, could have walked from the theater, straight to the Lego store, and purchased a fantastic set based on the film. It’s got the Hail Mary, it’s got Ryland Grace and everyone’s favorite alien, Rocky. It’s great. The Rocky figure is pretty small, though, so one Lego creator figured out a way to take an existing set and turn it into an even better Rocky, and it’s so, so good.

Over on a site called Rebrickable, Lego creator Jordan DeVries, aka theastralbricks, figured out a way to take a preexisting set called Cute Bunny (which costs $20 and is pretty readily available) and use only about half the pieces to make Rocky. Here’s a better look.

“The official LEGO Rocky minifig is adorable, but I wanted a slightly larger Eridean buddy of my own,” DeVries writes on the site. “This rocky space friend is ready to help with five articulated arms and a sturdy core, standing at 3.7in (9.4cm) tall! No extra parts are needed, and you’ll have about half of the Cute Bunny’s pieces left over.”

You can buy the instructions for the build on Rebrickable for only $3. Click this link to head to the site.

Considering the official Project Hail Mary Lego set costs $100, this is quite the bargain at $20 for the Bunny and $3 for the instructions. Plus, the two sure would look nice together, would they not?

Project Hail Mary just had a record-breaking opening weekend, grossing over $80 million at the domestic box office, so maybe Lego will get the hint and make its own official Rocky in the future. Until then, though, this is an excellent alternative, and thank you to DeVries for allowing us to use his images.

Project Hail Mary is now in theaters, and we highly recommend it!
