Freshly minted EGOT winner Steven Spielberg has made some of the greatest alien movies of all time. He’s also the filmmaker most responsible for the summer blockbuster. So, when the director of E.T., Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and Jaws gets set to release an alien movie over the summer, expectations couldn’t be higher.
That’s happening on June 12 with Disclosure Day. Spielberg conceived the story and directed the tale of humanity being made aware that aliens do, in fact, exist. We saw some of what that means in the film’s first teaser trailer, but pegged to the Super Bowl, we’ve got even more. Check it out.
While there’s plenty of new footage here, we are still curious about the “Spielberg” of this all. What was it about this story that made the legendary director say, “Yes, I’m back to doing alien summer blockbusters”?
Disclosure Day stars Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo. It opens June 12.
