Taika Waititi says to expect his Kazuo Ishiguro adaptation, Klara and the Sun, to release this year. A new look at The Odyssey reveals a surprising new face. Plus, what’s coming on Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Spoilers get!

Darkman 4

During a recent interview with MovieWeb, Sam Raimi confirmed there are plans for a fourth Darkman movie—one that could see Liam Neeson return as Dr. Peyton Westlake after two sequels with Arnold Vosloo in the role.

Yes, Ghost House Pictures, the company I work with, is trying to make the sequel right now. We’ve got a screenplay and two great directors, but we’re still having a little difficulty with the financing. It’s always the same in the movie business.

Klara and the Sun

Speaking with Screen, Taika Waititi stated his film, Klara and the Sun, will see release sometime “this year, for sure.” Starring Jenna Ortega, Amy Adams, Steve Buscemi, and Natasha Lyonne, the film is an adaptation of a novel by Kazuo Ishiguro about a solar-powered AF (Artificial Friend) named Klara who is chosen by a sickly child to be her companion.

Angel Down

Deadline also has word that novelist Daniel Kraus (Whalefall, The Shape of Water) is now writing a feature adaptation of his World War I-set supernatural thriller, Angel Down. The story concerns Private Cyril Bagger, “who has managed to survive the unspeakable horrors of WWI through his wits and deception, swindling fellow soldiers at every opportunity. But his survival instincts are put to the ultimate test when he and four other grunts are given a deadly mission: venture into the perilous No Man’s Land to euthanize a wounded comrade. What they find amid the ruined battlefield, however, is not a man in need of mercy but a fallen angel, seemingly struck down by artillery fire. This celestial being may hold the key to ending the brutal conflict, but only if the soldiers can suppress their individual desires and work together. As jealousy, greed, and paranoia take hold, the group is torn apart by their inner demons, threatening to turn their angelic encounter into a descent into hell.”
