Here’s Your First Look at Sophie Turner’s Lara Croft

Reading time 2 minutes

While some folks might have had reservations upon hearing that Game of Thrones alum Sophie Turner would take on the role of Lara Croft in Prime Video’s upcoming Tomb Raider show, we just got our first look at her in the iconic video game heroine’s outfit, and she looks more than ready to take on the role.

Earlier today, almost as an effort to jump-start everyone’s morning and become the talk of the town on an otherwise normal Thursday, the official Prime Video X/Twitter account posted a photo of Turner in Lara Croft’s attire. That being her signature red sunglasses, blue tactical top shorts, and dual revolvers in hand. The look feels as if it were pulled straight from the early Tomb Raider games, or, more aptly, the upcoming remake. The post served two purposes: to announce that the show is currently in production and to break the internet for gamers. Basically, any detractors worried about whether Turner would fit the look will be awfully quiet after seeing her and how uncanny she looks as the character, compared to past iterations by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander.

It certainly silences any naysayers about whether Turner can look the part of arguably one of gaming’s most well-known heroes. Aside from our new glimpse of Turner and the recent confirmation of the show’s cast, there’s not much else currently known in terms of where this new adventure will take Turner’s Croft. But, given Tomb Raider‘s penchant for pitting its hero against all kinds of armed militia, supernatural beings, and the occasional dinosaur, we can place some safe bets on who the pistol-wielding archaeologist will be butting heads with and solving environmental puzzles against with the grace of an acrobat when it’s time for Prime Video to give us a proper trailer to give context to Turner’s video game-accurate look.
