Once more, it will be time to meet the Muppets on The Muppet Show tonight: Disney has revealed the first teaser for the one-off return of the legendary variety show in celebration of its upcoming 50th anniversary.
This morning Disney released our first tiny tease for The Muppet Show‘s comeback, confirming that the one-night-only special will debut on February 4, 2026. It, of course, features a brief glimpse of Kermit getting ready to settle in behind the scenes at the iconic Muppet Studio stage with some much-needed prep—because you can’t have The Muppet Show without the music playing and the lights lit, can you?
The special, executive produced by Seth Rogen, will feature pop star Sabrina Carpenter as its main musical guest, although a press release provided by Disney promises “comedy and a whole lot of chaos” alongside the music.
Not much else is known about the special so far, beyond the fact that Disney is explicitly treating it as a special event. It had been previously reported that the one-off could potentially serve as a pilot for a more ongoing return of The Muppet Show, which previously ran for five seasons between 1976 and 1981 (after two attempted pilots in 1974 and 1975—so there’s at least precedent that one-offs may flourish into something more).
The Muppets Show revival comes at a time when Disney is investing more focus into The Muppets as a franchise, with the recent news that Cole Escola, Jennifer Lawrence, and Emma Stone are developing a Miss Piggy movie, and Disney’s celebrations of The Muppets‘ broader 70th anniversary this year.
The Muppets Show‘s return will stream on Disney+ and broadcast on ABC February 4, 2026.
