We weren’t sure at first that the world needed a Dune prequel, set 10,000 years before Paul Atreides and focused on the creation of the mysterious Bene Gesserit. But the first season of HBO’s Dune: Prophecy proved how dramatic and wild such a story could be. When season one came to its jaw-dropping conclusion, we realized we needed season two of Dune: Prophecy ASAP. Bring back the toxic sisterhood!
Good news, Harkonnen fans and Atreides-curious: season two of Dune: Prophecy is officially in production, and it has some new cast members reporting for duty.

The new faces include genre fan favorite Indira Varma (Game of Thrones, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Creature Commandos, Doctor Who) as well as Ashley Walters (Netflix’s Adolescence, next year’s M. Night Shyamalan movie Remain) and Tom Hollander (The White Lotus, Monster: The Ed Gein Story).
No word yet on who these folks will be playing—we can definitely picture Varma as a powerful member of the Sisterhood, or perhaps someone calling the shots amid all that intrigue on Arrakis—but these are all exciting additions to an already very strong cast. HBO confirms that the returning cast includes Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and Travis Fimmel, whose characters have some sticky family dynamics to work out in season two.
Also returning are Jodhi May, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, Yerin Ha, Barbara Marten, and Tessa Bonham Jones.
According to an HBO press release, the new season will run eight episodes (season one was just six) and has begun filming under showrunner Alison Schapker in Hungary, Jordan, and Spain. No word yet on when we might see it on screens, but late 2026 or 2027 feels like a safe bet. Dune: Part Three, Denis Villeneuve’s next big-screen return to Frank Herbert’s world, is scheduled to release December 18, 2026.
