James Gunn Teases That Plans May Have Changed for the DCU’s Damian Wayne

reading time 2 minutes

Brad Bird has finally begun work on his sci-fi passion project, Ray Gunn. Jodie Whittaker says she is always willing to come back to Doctor Who. Plus, Tom Holland offers a brief update after his injury on the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Spoilers get!

Ray Gunn

According to World of Reel, filming has officially begun on Brad Bird’s passion project, the sci-fi noir Ray Gunn.

Zero K

Deadline reports Caleb Landry Jones, Peter Sarsgaard, and Andrea Riseborough are attached to star in Zero K, a film adaptation of the novel by Don DeLillo. The story follows “a young man drawn into the designs of his tech-billionaire father, landing in a remote desert compound where the wealthy seek to extend human limits through cryonics and radical science. The woman who binds these two estranged men submits to the project with mixed emotions, as they all face challenges linking love, life, and death.”

The Brave and the Bold

During a recent interview with IGN, James Gunn answered that “some things have changed,” regarding Damien Wayne’s “parentage” when asked about Bruce’s potential age compared to Damien’s in The Brave and the Bold.

No, I think you have to wait to see the movie. Some things have changed. Plenty of things are in flux on what his situation is with his parentage and all that stuff, so I wouldn’t take any of it – Yeah, I mean, the actor who wants to… Listen, first of all, I can’t tell you the amount of big actors that have told me they want to be Batman. I think you’d have a harder time finding actors who don’t want to be Batman. He’s the one character everyone wants to play. That’s the truth.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Deadline reports Tom Holland is “feeling better and on the mend” following his concussion filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Doctor Who

Speaking with The Times UK, Jodie Whittaker stated she “wouldn’t hesitate” to return to Doctor Who.

I was just delighted I still fitted in my costume. The second I got to Cardiff [the series’ central filming location], I felt like I was home, even though it’s a different studio, a different Tardis. It’s just my absolute happiness, Doctor Who. If someone said to me in 20 years, ‘I’ve written an episode and the Thirteenth comes back,’ I just wouldn’t hesitate. It’s absolute joy.

Peacemaker

In another recent interview with Deadline, James Gunn confirmed there will not be a third season of Peacemaker anytime soon.

You’re gonna find out more in episode 8 because it’s not necessarily that. Some of these characters will continue, but also, it’s not exactly Peacemaker 3. I’m not ruling it out. You’ll see (episode) 8 and maybe you’ll find out a little bit more.

Haunted Hotel

However, THR reports Netflix has renewed Haunted Hotel for a second season.

Smiling Friends

Finally, the Smiling Friends have their work cut out for them with a new client in a clip from their third season premiere airing this October 5 on Adult Swim.
